Fishtraks refers to itself as 'The Singer-Songwriter Studio'. Although we can handle bands of all sizes and styles, we like best working with those who are not part of a band or that just can't afford to hire a full band to help. Through a combination of in-house talent and amazing modern recording technology, we can take your voice and your song (and your instrument - if you're a musician as well) and help you create a radio-ready and very professional song or album - without the added expense and effort associated with rehearsing and recording a full band. No matter what type of production you want: rock, country, blues, bluegrass, or simple acoustic/folk, we can produce your song with the instrumentation and feel you desire; with the only cost to you being a flat rate of $50/hour. There are never any extra fees for materials or musicians (unless of course you choose to bring in your own and pay for them). We'll help you produce and arrange your songs and we'll add any and all instruments and backing vocals you desire. Fishtraks also specializes in live sound reinforcement as well as live audio and video recording of your show or event. In the Youtube era, your best promotional material is definitely a great quality video. However, nothing serves you worse than a bad sounding video and as you probably already know, there are a lot of bad sounding videos out there. What separates Fishtraks live video from most of the pack, is that we are a recording studio first. We really do know how to capture great live sound to go with your video. We combine multi-track audio with multi-camera video to catch your live show, then we bring it back to the studio to mix and edit. You end up with and interesting, high quality video production with near studio quality audio, which serves as a great booking tool. Our History

Fishtraks was created nearly 35 years ago, in a garage in Rye, NH by a couple of musicians who recognized the need in the seacoast area for a high-end, professional studio. From relatively humble beginnings, it went through several transitions and evolutions - including being purchased in 1979 by Tom Daly (who's still the owner) and a move to a large, professional space in downtown Portsmouth. Many equipment upgrades and personel changes followed for Fishtraks as they proceded in their effort to develop, maintain and advance a reputation as Portsmouth's finest recording facility.

As recording technology made huge leaps on it's way into the computer age, Fishtraks kept right up, going from large reel tape format through the 80s and early 90s, digital tape for a handful of years, and finally making the transition into computer based recording in 1999. Fishtraks was the first local studio to install Protools multi-track and Sonic Solutions mastering software; purchases which set them apart from other local studios for several years. They still own the old tape decks, adats, and dat machines; which are only used now to transfer archives onto the computer hard drive where old projects can be given new life, with modern technology.

Finally, realizing the importance of video and the Internet as a key method of promoting your music, Fishtraks began offering video production three years ago as well as audio. Because our expertise has always been music recording, our video specialty naturally is capturing your live performance with studio quality sound - all at our same base rate of $50/hr.
